Overview
The department was established in the year 1996 and is loyal to teach basic and applied chemistry to B.E./B.Tech first year students and also offers open elective courses for higher semester students. The department has highly qualified and dedicated faculty members with doctorate in various specialization of Chemistry. The department has excellent infrastructure for the conduct of Lab Classes and applied research work besides the objective of preparing students for challenging careers. The department has been recognized as a research centre to pursue a doctoral program since 2008 by Anna University, Chennai. The department faculties have expertise in the fields such as polymer, natural products, liquid crystals, corrosion, organic synthesis, medicinal, electrochemical sensors, catalysis, nano-porous materials, photochemistry, quantum mechanics, fluorescence sensors, biosensors, drug delivery systems and computational studies.
