About
The Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) was launched by the Government of India in 1970. The scheme
aims at enhancing the technical expertise and competencies of the teachers working in AICTE
approveda
degree-level engineering institutions. The programme is funded by AICTE and the implementation and
monitoring processes are the responsibilities of the National QIP Coordination Committee (NQCC).
There are nine major QIP centres such as IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT
Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee and IIT Varanasi in the country. In addition, there
are 74 minor centres.
Bannari Amman Institute of Technology (BIT), Sathyamangalam is one of the minor
centres
functioning in the country.
