The department of Automobile Engineering has organized the 1st national level event on Electric Two Wheeler Design Competition (ETWDC) 2019 in association with SAEINDIA southern section during 27th – 29th September 2019.The events started with the inauguration on 27th forenoon and Mr.P.Manikandan, Head Engineering E-mobility solutions, Robert Bosch was the Chief Guest. Followed by inauguration, two static events i.e., design presentation and technical inspection were conducted on 27th September. During 28 th September, four dynamic events i.e., brake, range, gradability and maneuverability tests were conducted. On the final day, 29th September, acceleration/bump test was conducted. In the afternoon of 29th September, valedictory function of ETWDC was conducted and Mr.A.C.Huzefa, Domain Head, Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Technology, Ashok Leyland was the Chief Guest. During this event, 45 judges from Ashok Leyland , Renault Nissan, Royal Enfield, Sriram Auto Components, Hexdof, TAFE, Visteon, TI cycles, AVL, TCS-Engineering, Rane Engine Valves, Avtech, Robert Bosch, Ampere Vehicles and Atalon industries have assessed the events. 53 teams with 530 participants and 30 faculty advisors were participated during this event. State wise count includes 31 teams from Tamilnadu, 7 teams from Andhra Pradesh, 6 teams from Telungana, 5 teams from Kerala, 3 teams from Maharashtra, and 1 team from Gujarat. Eighteen prizes worth of rupees 3 Lakhs were awarded to the winners. Out of four teams participated from BIT, 2 teams have won the prizes in the categories of manoeuvrability and special awards. BIT team have secured fourth rank among 53 teams and the first three overall ranks were secured by A.D.PatelInstitute of Technology Gujarat, Maharashtra Institute of Technology Pune and PSNA College of Engineering & Technology Dindugal. This is the first kind of event conducted in India and is appreciated by major industries.
